Joseph and I went on a date for the first time in who knows how long. I've been wanting to hike the railroad from Smith's Ferry up to the Rainbow Bridge for quite a few years now. We finally took the opportunity to go! It was a 3 mile hike there and back. Flat walking on the tracks, but a good workout over all! The river has gone down some so it's not rushing too wildly. It was a beautiful hike and fairly quiet even tho the main highway was just across the river. The bridge was so neat to stand under! I love the architecture of the bridge and enjoy seeing the attention to detail even on the underside of the bridge where it's not seen much at all! After our hike, exactly 2 hours from the station up and back to the station, we drove down Packer John's Road and up the logging road to see Smith's Valley from above! It was a bit smoky, so not good enough to take many pictures, but it was a great view!
