4th of July Camping Trip

 We got a reservation for a camp site back on January 1st of this year. Joseph's parents and youngest sister, Merrie, came to camp with us. On the way to the camp ground, the fellas were moving their sheep down West Mountain Road. I was surprised they picked the busiest weekend of the year to move all the sheep north!! Thankfully we were only stuck for less than 5 minutes, when it could have been much longer! I joked with Joseph that it would take us an hour to get to our campsite 2 miles from home!

The weather during the trip wasn't roasting so that was nice to be in the shade and be comfortable in light long sleeves. The fire was going most of the days. We played lots of cards. Joseph taught us all a new card game he learned in Michigan.

There were a bunch of kids in camp so the kids were gone most of the time on their bikes and playing cards or walkie talkies with their new friends.

Some fireworks started across the water. We went on a little hike through the trees to go sit and watch some works. The next night we stood on the dock until the mosquitoes drove us home! The kids cuddled in a towel and Blake kept Blaire warm!

Joseph took us up to the water building on Tamarack mountain. Here we got to overlook Lake Cascade, south of where we camped.

Blaire came running back to camp to tell us she needed a phone to go take a picture of a beautiful sunset. This is what she came back with!

This year we went to Cascade to watch the fireworks on the golf course. 2021 we stayed on the beach, 2020 we stayed home, 2019 we went to McCall and 2018 we were in Texas for Joseph's graduation. Ted and Elaine, Merrie and Ashley joined us for the show. Blaire didn't like the loud noise so Auntie Ashley plugged her ears for her.

It wasn't dark enough til 10pm to start the show. Here it stays light much longer than we're used to. The pictures are in backward order, but I so happened to take one picture directly west and another picture slightly north west and they could be combined at that tree top to make one long picture! I added the times to show the sky lighting at those times! Above, where Blaire is eating a S'more, it looks like daylight but was really and hour past her bedtime! It sure makes for an interesting summer schedule!
