Our church hosted a parent/kid adventure: Ice Fishing on Cascade Lake. It was pretty cold, so we bundled well! The group hauled the items to the lake and the men started drilling holes. The ice was about 18" thick. As soon as the holes were drilled, the kids dropped their lines in and began to babysit and watch for the fish. Blaire's line wiggled first. As she was pulling it in, the fish got away and took the hook and sinker with it! Only 2 fish were caught and brought up after that. Blake preferred to fish inside the propane warmed tent! We left after about 2 hours. The kids and I all concluded that we each prefer summer fishing. They're warm and can see the fish, and I can get comfy in a chair with a book while they do so!
