Adventures in San Francisco

Joseph's day off was on Thursday. We made plans with Chad to go to Alcatraz since the weather was so nice! Chad and I haven't been for about 10 years. We got to the city and found a parking garage a few blocks away from where we needed to buy our tickets. When we got in line, we were informed that the next ferry available was over 2 hours away! We decided to do something else and we left. We walked down to pier 39 and went into some shops. Joseph drooled all over the chocolate shop and I drooled over the giant tootsie rolls! We had lunch at the aquarium overlooking the boats in the bay. For an hour or so after that, we drove around the city. Chad wanted to go to Lombard St. We let him drive and that made him super happy! We drove around by the gate and Presidio and went toward the less crowded part of the city.

We found a nice beach and stopped for a while. Chad let his feet sink into the sand so they were completely covered. He tried jumping out of the sand but it didn't work well. He had to jump a few times before he got loose! We three were having a great time playing in the sand holes we were making in the wet sand.... Then I saw a little bug disappearing into the sand. Joseph picked it up and rinsed the sand off of it... It was super creepy and had a stinger or something on it's end... No more digging in sand holes for us! We left shortly after =)

We drove around for a while more and then drove across the Golden Gate Bridge, which Joseph tells us is really RED, and went up on the hills to see the bunkers and drive some of the coastal roads. While exploring the bunkers, Chad and Joseph found a tunnel leading underground. It was too filled with junk to really see anything though. At one place, we stopped and parked the truck and Chad ran to the little watch tower and wanted his picture taken. He pointed toward the ocean and said, "SHIPS!!!!" Joseph and I went around the backside to get in to the lookout and there were only 3 steps. The rest of them had been removed so people couldn't climb up into the tower. That didn't stop us though!
We went out for dinner at In-N-Out. It was nice and warm with a slight breeze so we ate outside with the pigeons. Chad fed them fries and then since we were all so amused with seeing the 3-5 birds fighting over the fries, we fed them more!
We didn't get too much traffic on the way home, so, it was a nice drive. Chad ended up falling asleep just after informing me that my back speakers in my truck don't work =)
